Speedball emulsion burn time11/22/2023 ![]() ![]() Using a photopolymer emulsion (compared to a diazo-based emulsion) when you have a low UV light source will make a huge difference toward success or failure when making a stencil. Photopolymer liquid emulsions (and photopolymer capillary film) work well even with poor light sources. Manufacturers developed photopolymer emulsion products because they know that many screen printers use an exposure light source that is less than ideal. Includes 6. Too much heat can actually harden emulsion so whenever you use some heat be sure that it is warm rather than very hot. It only risks blowing dust on the emulsion so if you’re in a clean room with a clean fan or little heater with a blower then you can dry a screen pretty quick. It exposes very quickly and has a wide exposure time range. This is the last time my plans are adjusted because of poor implementation from Speedball. Sure you can rush dry or force dry a screen when you need to. Photopolymer emulsion is very sensitive to light. If you think of emulsion (or capillary film) as the “photographic film” used to make your stencil, think in terms of speed and light sensitivity. Exposes in just 7 minutes with Standard and HiDef 8.5'x11' stencils using transparency film. An exposure calculator is your best bet to zero in on. Speedball Exposure Light Kit for exposing EZScreen stencils. But I have a question on the other end of the spectrum. Again, these are only starting points to give you an idea of where to begin your testing. I have searched for more information on drying time for speedball diazo photo emulsion drying times, but all the search results return information about how to speed it up (a hair dryer, dehumidifier, etc.) so people can print more quickly - like under an hour or two. While the light source will determine what kind of art you can use to make a stencil, the type of emulsion or capillary film that you use is actually more important. I have recently moved and am not sure if the climate is the problem, but the Emulsion is drying to fast and hard before I burn the screen. Unfiltered blacklights or grow lights 5 minutes. I also, burn my screen in the sun for 1 minute. I tried another product and had nothing but headaches. From my experience, I air dry the screen for 48 hours for the best results. It is always on point no issues and burn time is low about 6 to 7 mins 500 watt buld. In addition, Speedball now proudly manufactures a suite of complementary products. Most people who want to build their own exposure unit mistakenly think that the light source is the most important consideration. Since that time, the Speedball name has become synonymous with high-quality pen nibs. ![]()
